Life is not a sprint

By Rusty Potter

As a runner who has conquered the New Orleans Marathon, I understand the value of persistence, dedication, and the feeling of crossing the finish line after a 26.2-mile run. Much like life, the marathon is a metaphor for the challenges we face, the goals we strive for, and the growth we achieve through the process.

In today’s fast-paced view, there is pressure to reach and achieve instant success, and immediate and constant gratification. We are bombarded with stories of overnight successes and quick fixes that promise to transform our lives in the blink of an eye.
Life is much like a marathon, a journey of endurance, resilience, and falling and getting back up. It’s about setting goals and working hard to accomplish them, even when the road is uphill and the finish line seems distant. You must have the ability to stay on course, to keep going when your legs ache, and to avoid hitting the wall. Life is a marathon that demands your commitment, your perseverance, and your unwavering belief in yourself.
