SEDD to consider plan to abandon Southside dream brand

SEDD’s Strategic planning committee approves website overhaul and a $5,000 rebranding effort, while chair, Tony Little suggests the 25-year revitalization plan for South Monroe should be “destroyed”

A committee of the Southside Economic Development District voted Tuesday to recommend introduction of a package of resolutions designed to shift from its 25-year “Southside Dream” – a move that Tony Little, SEDD’s chairman supports.

Little said SEDD’s 25-year plan to make Southside equal to Northside is unrealistic and needs to be “destroyed.”

Little, who lives in North Monroe, represents South Monroe on the board, Appointed by councilwoman Juanita Woods, his three year term on the SEDD expired last August. Woods has not reappointed or replaced him.

The Strategic Planning and Partnership Subcommittee of the Southside Economic Development District is a committee Little appointed to usher in his new direction; all six of its members are new appointees unfamiliar with SEDD’s previous plans, but anxious to do something.
