Anderson to perform final stage play Saturday night

Donterrio “Donnie” Anderson, a local playwright and actor, will be performing his final stage play in Monroe on July 1st. The play, titled “The Secrets in the City,” will be held at the Monroe Civic Center.

Anderson began writing and performing stage plays in 2014 after a personal crisis. He said that God spoke to him during his time of darkness and gave him the vision to write plays. His first play, “Why do you go to church?,” was a success, and he has since written and performed several other plays.

Anderson said that he is excited to perform his final play in Monroe, where he started his career. He said that he is grateful for the support of the community and for the opportunity to share his gift with others.

“The Secrets in the City” is a drama that explores the themes of love, betrayal, and redemption. Anderson said that the play is a reflection of his own life experiences.

“This play is about my journey,” he said. “It’s about the ups and downs, the triumphs and the failures. It’s about finding your purpose and living your life to the fullest.”

Anderson said that he hopes that the play will inspire others to follow their dreams.

“I want people to know that anything is possible if you set your mind to it,” he said. “If I can do it, anyone can.”

Anderson said, “I’m so glad that over the years, I’ve had the privilege to work with such great people all over the city, just to name a few, Shannette Dorsey, Genoris Bridges, Kema Dawson, Rachel Washington, Matthew Beasley, Annanais, Word, Andrea Word, Chandler Hawkins, Kemeta Hawkins, Nikki Wade McFarland, AaKayla Ruff, Michael Thompson Sr., Ora Greely, Jovonne Wilson, David Payne Chardrick Turner, Chrystal Wheeler, Jeremy Davison, Latoya Smith, Kalvin Bowman, Mario Manning, Kinya Dawson-Bennett , Dan DaGreat, Jay Gaice, Andreas Elliott, Tamera Jones, Yolanda Gayden, Marquita Bowman, Kalvin Bowman Sr., DeLana Fields, Arta Jones, Fredrika Wright, Christina Turner and Alandra Corner.
