Monroe– United Way of Northeast Louisiana recognizes outstanding volunteers and corporate partners each year during its annual Celebrating Excellence event. This year’s event took place at Bayou Pointe Event Center on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe on Tuesday, March 5th.
The keynote speaker was Jeff Storey, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CenturyLink.
“We appreciate the outstanding support of CenturyLink and its generous employees. Jeff Storey’s personal commitment as a member of the United Way Tocqueville Society right here in northeast Louisiana means so much,” says Blake Wheelis, Chair of the United Way of Northeast Louisiana.
2018 was a success because of the hard work of many individuals and companies across the community. The community came together to make an outstanding contribution for the 2018 campaign year.
“Today’s announcement of the 2018 Campaign results is a continued reflection of the generosity of the people in Northeast Louisiana and also an affirmation of the critical services provided by United Way of Northeast Louisiana’s initiatives, collaborations and programs of our partner agencies,” says Janet Durden, President of United Way of Northeast Louisiana.
Recognized at Celebrating Excellence was the 2018 LIVE UNITED Award winner, Monroe Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, the 2018 Outstanding Campaign Coordinator & Team Award winners, Eve Van Sickle from St. Francis Medical Center and Lori Mathieu from Glenwood Regional Medical Center, and the 2018 VolunteerUNITED Award winner, KTVE NBC 10 & KARD FOX 14.
Other awards presented included the Campaign Leaders Award, New Campaign Award, Going the Extra 10% Award, and the Circle of Honor Award.
The event wrapped up with a presentation highlighting ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). Because of the 2018 investment in United Way, the community has begun to help ALICE’s economic struggle.
The investment in United Way empowers individuals and families for future success through initiatives and over 40 community programs at our 23 local non-profit providers.
