Wandering Spirit comes to rest in Monroe

The nationally renowned art exhibit Wandering Spirit: African Wax Prints is appearing for the first time in the Monroe/West Monroe area and is on display at the NELA Delta African American Heritage Museum! The museum is located at 1051 Chennault Park Drive, Monroe.

This exhibition is a tribute to the century-old handmade designs and patterns on textiles that were exported to Africa and then became ingrained in African culture and society and adopted as their own. Wandering Spirit: African Wax Prints reflect the stories, dreams, and personalities of the African people.

The Museum is offering a special opportunity to view the exhibit and have a tour during its Black History celebration on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 3-5:00 pm. Also featuring artist Bernard Menyweather, musical art by Karen Gant, and poetry by Jamie Mayes.

Small admission fee, for more information regarding admission fee please contact the museum (318) 342-8889 Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
