In 1986 President Ronald Reagan designated and signed into law February as National Black History Month. Since then the nation has used the month to remember the important contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout our nation’s history.
HEROES would like to invite you to the 2nd Annual Spirit of Caldwell Black History Program to be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at the historical Union Central Elementary School. Historically the church has been a place for creating individual, systemic, and political change within the entire community in Caldwell Parish. HEROES would like to use this event to bring all Caldwell citizens together to celebrate the churches and the membership who have contributed to the establishment and growth of Caldwell Parish.
This event will feature an exhibit hall, a memorial wall, and a powerful message by Tony Lee Pastor at St John BC Kinder, LA and the HERO Award recipient for 2019 is Mrs. Mary Alice Wiley. You really don’t want to miss this event!
The African American impact on history is far-reaching and is deeply etched in the fabric of America. Although this event will spotlight the contributions of African Americans in the local area, the program is designed for the entire community to enjoy and share together.
