Not many people have the luxury of a career that is also their passion. Being a community activist is what keeps this native Monroyan going.
L. “Marie” Brown has a zest for life, a true believer in helping those in need, and a willingness to serve.
She is often seen at community meetings, promoting issues that would improve conditions for the poor. It’s something that she has pursued all of her life.
One of Nine Children
As one of nine children growing up in Monroe, LA, it was her natural ability to look out for others. Being tall for her age, Brown’s size allowed her to step between altercations when someone was being picked on.
Always rooting for the underdog, Brown carried this into her adulthood.
After high school, Brown worked various jobs, but she soon got tired of what she called “the rat race.”
