Dear Hearts,
God’s Word declares that His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).
Many people have succumbed to indulging in the world’s way for their desired healing. They have chosen to invest in worldly ways but never seek God through His Word. Of course, there may be some successes for a moment, but the only authentic healing is when individuals invest in their healing through the Word of God-healing the mind, body, and soul.
Particularly, people may overindulge in alcoholic beverages, which only worsens the situation, food, friendships, jobs, etc., or anything that may be substituted to help ease their pain. These things may bring temporary relief, but not eternal relief. I have learned that only God can take the pain away. Only God’s Word can keep the mind, body, and soul pure from sin and pain.
In Psalm 119:9 (NIV), the psalmist encouraged the young man to keep his ways pure. He asked the question, “How can a young man stay on the path of purity?” His answer, “By living according to God’s Word.” In other words, even though sin and sickness-physical or mental- is prevalent all around us, we must read the Word of God and commit to following His commands.
Interestingly, there are many things that have captured our attention that would cause us to need a healing. However, we must invest in our healings with the Word of God. We must bathe our problems with every Word that comes out of God’s mouth – that is His Word, the Bible.
The psalmist further noted, “I seek you (God) with my whole heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in in my heart that I may not sin against you” (Psalm 119:10-11 NIV). There are times individuals will stray and find themselves walking in the darkness of the evil one and not God’s light. Absent of God’s Word, we are weak and are subject to following the world’s way and not God’s commands. One writer suggested, “Independence from God is what the Bible calls sin.” He advocates that when we live outside of the Word of God, we live in bondage and wander or meander throughout life experiencing confinement and suffocation instead of experiencing peace and joy.
Unquestionably, if you want to make an investment in your healing that will have 100% return, invest your time and efforts in the Word of God. Do not settle for the advice of the world or their way but settle for what God says. In His Word, there is healing, joy, peace, or whatever you need to take the pain away.
