Scripture Reading: “And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife… And she said unto her mistress, ‘Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! For he would recover him of his leprosy.’” (2 Kings 5:2-3).
There is thanksgiving in my heart for God’s blessings of positioning Christian believers for His purpose in our society. It is comforting to know that He places believers exactly where He wants them to be. You may, at times, question why God has guided you to certain job opportunities or specific professions. You might also wonder how you ended up in a situation that seems to offer little for you personally. Perhaps you feel that your dreams or desires are not being fulfilled. Allow me to remind you that it is part of God’s divine purpose that you are where you are, at His appointed time.
Consider, for a moment, that some of the people around you may not believe in God or even know Him. He has strategically positioned you to share the message of His Son, Jesus, and to demonstrate His goodness to those who have no hope.
The passage we reflect on teaches us that the little maid was positioned for God’s purpose. Captured and brought to Naaman’s home, she was given to his wife as a servant. Naaman, the captain of the host of the king of Syria, was stricken with leprosy. When the maid noticed the severity of his condition, she shared her faith and belief in God’s power to heal him.
Although her position as a servant didn’t seem to carry any significance from a worldly perspective, it was of great significance in God’s plan. Her faith in her position resulted in Naaman’s healing. This illustrates that, like the maid, you are also positioned for God’s purpose, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.
All believers carry a message. God places us in various circumstances and positions to provide opportunities to share His grace and mercy with others. We must tell our coworkers, bosses, family members, friends, and anyone we encounter that God is able to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20).
Be encouraged to seek opportunities to share the salvation we have gained through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Embrace and appreciate the position God has placed you in, for it is for His purpose.
THANK YOU, GOD, FOR PURPOSE!
Jesus Saves!
