Obituary

Frank McGraw, Sr., was born September 22, 1951, in Gilbert, Louisiana, to the late Calvin McGraw, Sr., and Annie M. Walker McGraw. He went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2026. He gave his life to Christ at an early age at Old Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor C. Wesley in Gilbert, and later attended Oakley Baptist Church in Wisner.

He loved working in gardens and cutting grass. As his health declined, he continued his work using a scooter or riding mower. Known as the “Southside Maintenance Handyman,” he remained dedicated to his work until he was no longer able to do so. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, including favorites such as Roman Reigns, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Undertaker, as well as boxing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Annie McGraw; four brothers, Dave Walker, Calvin McGraw, Jr., Joseph McGraw, and Charlie McGraw; and two sisters, Odean McGraw and Henrietta McGraw Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memory four children: two sons, Frank (Shanta) McGraw, Jr., and Steve (Latrice) McGraw, both of Monroe; and two daughters, Aretha (Vernon) Washington of Monroe and Dewanna F. James of Winnsboro. He is also survived by one brother, Griffen McGraw of New Orleans; three sisters, Annie Thomas of Monroe, Nellie McGraw of New Orleans, and Adline Lloyd of Winnsboro; eighteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
