Willson, Berry named to lead school board

White board members praised Rodney McFarland for leading charge to dump federal discrimination protections; nearly 1000 blacks sign letters or petitions opposing board’s actions.  

 Bill Willson is the new President of the Monroe City School board, but it wasn’t unanimous.

   Tuesday night the school board decided to name Willson as its president and turned down the bid of Brenda Shelling who sought the Presidency also. Both Shelling and Willson had lobbied other board members seeking their support for the Presidency.
