We need God’s help to defeat our giants!

My Dear Friends,

I greet you in the only name that matters-that Name is Jesus the Christ our Eternal, Everlasting and Endless Savior. Happy New Year to all of you! It is a blessing to be gifted with another year. As we live day by day, let us thank God for His daily gift of living. “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being…” (Acts 17:28a). Thank You, Father, for your goodness toward us!

Our message today centers around the biblical account noted in I Samuel 17 where David slayed his giant, the infamous Goliath. Davd met his giant “head on” with the power of God. In like manners, we must meet our giants “head on” knowing that it is not our battle, but it is God’s. There are giants or situations that will rise up in our lives-that is a fact. Nevertheless, we must remember that we have a “giant slayer” who is ready to fight every giant or battle that comes our way. His name is Jehovah ElShaddai, the omnipotent One–the all-powerful One. Interestingly, the Psalm writer conveys, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). God, the omnipotent One, will protect and keep you safe under His shadow. No matter what comes your way, God will fight on your behalf.

As I woke up at 5:00 AM Tuesday morning, I received a call from a family member who was in search of a word-words of encouragement. A giant had appeared in the lives of their loved ones, and they were unsure how to face it. The need to hear from God was overwhelming, and the family found themselves in need of strength-strength that could not be found within themselves.

Like David, there are times that we must not rely on our own strength, but the strength of God. David made it known that he had been successful in slaying a lion and a bear, and this “uncircumcised Philistine is no difference (1 Sam. 17). The giant presented himself to cause fear and confusion, but when you have God on your side there is no need to fear. God will give you strength to defeat your giants.

It is important to remember in defeating your giants, you must study God’s Word. Do not be fearful in standing alone yet be confident knowing that God is always with you. In addition, use the power of prayer and God’s Word to defeat your giants.

“We need God’s help to defeat our giants!”
