As residents of Monroe open their June water bills, they are confronted with the harsh reality of the city’s “forever” tax on water and sewage.
The bills, marked with glaring red letters, announce an automatic annual increase in water and sewer rates, a result of a controversial ordinance passed by the Monroe City Council in 2018 under the administration of former Mayor Jamie Mayo.
