Two sisters, one legacy

I, Mrs. Latreacia Matthews from Monroe, La., am a proud member of Grambling State University’s Class of 2026, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology after beginning my academic journey in 1989. My path reflects resilience, faith, and an unwavering commitment to education.

I am a devoted wife of 30 years, mother of three accomplished children, and grandmother of seven cherished grandchildren and one angel.

This moment means everything to my family and me. I stayed the course and finished what I started. Balancing family, work, and school was not easy, but I never gave up.

Putting God first and holding on to the love and support of my husband, children, family, and friends, I pushed through every challenge.

This degree is more than an accomplishment—it is proof that it’s never too late to reach your goals. This degree in Sociology reflects my passion for understanding communities, strengthening families, and making meaningful contributions to society.

My journey stands as a testament that dreams deferred are not dreams denied.
