Shootings of the week continue with man’s arrest Monday

It has all of the trappings of a reality TV show, except it is frightening and not entertaining. There’s been another shooting in South Monroe added to the “shooting of the week” scenario that doesn’t seem to be changing for the better.

Monday, Ouachita Parish Sheriff Deputies arrested 35-year-old Aaron Kelly and charged him with two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

According to Sheriff Jay Russell, Kelly reportedly shot two people Monday morning in an incident that happened on Standifer Avenue. Details of the shooting have not been released.

One victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, said Sheriff Russell. He said witnesses told deputies that another person was shot as well, but the alleged victim fled and has not been located.

Kelly was charged with: 2 counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, 1 count of Armed Robbery, 1 count of Possession Schedule I Narcotics (Marijuana), 1 count of Possession of Schedule II Narcotics (Crack Cocaine)
