Pittman highlights 2025 Wossman year in Valedictorian address

The Monroe Civic Center arena was filled with pride and excitement, on 5/13/2025 as Wossman High School celebrated its Class of 2025 graduation ceremony. Family members, faculty, and community supporters gathered to honor the achievements of this year’s graduating class, described by Valedictorian Kailey Pittman as “the most remarkable class in the school’s history.”

The ceremony featured speeches from several Salutatorians before Pittman took the stage to deliver her inspiring Valedictorian address. In her speech, Pittman reflected on the class’s exceptional accomplishments, noting that they had surpassed the ACT Work Index goal by 13 points in just nine months.

“When we first walked into Wossman High School, many of us were unaware of what was lying ahead for us,” Pittman told her fellow graduates. “We did not expect to be the best and smartest class at Wossman High School.”

Pittman highlighted the diverse talents of the Class of 2025, which included track stars, college-bound football players, four-time girls basketball champions, two-time boys basketball champions, quiz bowl champions, and state competition winners in various subject areas.

Drawing inspiration from actress Viola Davis, Pittman reminded her classmates that “our dreams are within reach. I just have to keep moving towards them.”

The Valedictorian, who was raised by a single mother, took time to acknowledge those who supported the graduates throughout their high school journey. She expressed gratitude to families, teachers who pushed students beyond their perceived limitations, and her fellow graduates who motivated each other to excel.

“As we leave here today, remember that life will continue to present challenges,” Pittman said in her closing remarks. “There will be times when you want to give up and things will feel impossible. But this graduation moment should serve as a reminder to you that all things are capable.”

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of diplomas and the traditional turning of tassels, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Wossman High School’s Class of 2025.
