Sharon “Fine” Toombs Wilborn passes away

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home Friday, March 22, 2019, from 1-6 p.m.

Her official obituary reads as follows:

Sharon “Fine” Toombs Wilborn was born November 18, 1958, in Monroe, LA. She was born the ninth of nine children, to the late Reverend Perlum and Percille McCaa Toombs.

She was preceded in death by her baby son Brandon Wilborn, one sister Lullie Whitehead, and two brothers; Perlum and Percy Toombs.

Thursday, March 14, 2019, Sharon transitioned from this life to the Father at the Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Home at 10:00 a.m. Sharon united with the Progressive Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Pastor O.W. Billups, Sr. where she served as an active youth.

She was educated in the Monroe City School System and was a 1976 graduate of Wossman High School. Upon graduation, she attended Grambling State University for three years where she met her husband John Wilborn and later moved to Baton Rouge, LA where she obtained her Bachelor of Art in Business Management from Southern University. To this union two children were born Stacy and Brandon; later in life one son Sean Joseph Musgrow was born.

Upon moving to Baton Rouge, LA she united with Mt. Zion First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor T. J. Jemison, later she changed her membership to The Greater New Guide Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor I.J. Webster. Upon her return to Monroe, LA, she united with Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Roosevelt Wright, Jr., where she served as a faithful member of the Senior Usher Board.

Sharon was employed at Southern University Athletic Department while living in Baton Rouge, LA. Upon her return to Monroe, LA she was employed by Monroe City School System as a Computer Analyst at Barkdull Faulk Elementary until her untimely death.

Left to cherish her memory; one daughter Stacy Wilborn-Burton (Ezzard); one son Sean Musgrow; three grandchildren Madison Bryant, De’Sean Bryant, Jr., and Maliyah Bryant; five sisters, Johnnie Everfield (Roosevelt), Beverly Toombs, and Clara Toombs of Monroe, LA. Jessie Carson (Carson, CA); Alice Toombs (Baton Rouge, LA). Seven nieces: Percille Renay Broadway (Cornist); Juliet Toombs, Myrna Cooper; all of Monroe, LA., Sandra D. Roe (Raymond), Orlando, FL., Marilyn Wills, (Kirk) Maryland, DC., Connie Nelson (Willie) Baton Rouge, LA., Vandolyn Chatman, Carson, CA.; Seven nephews; John Norsworthy (Kristi) Lubbock, TX., John Paul Jones, (Tina), Hawaii., Travis Whitehead (Shenkia) Mansfield, LA., Jeffery Whitehead (Tiffany) Shreveport, LA., Joseph Everfield (Stephanie), Philadephia, PA., Christopher Toombs, Baton Rouge, LA., and Perlum Clark Toombs, Seattle, WA., Cousins Johnnie El McCaa, Charlie Roggerson, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. One God-daughter Kyra Collins and son Noah of Baton Rouge, LA.
