Dear Editor;
The disability rights group has filed a suit against David Wade Correctional Center for prolonged solitary confinement of inmates. Some inmates here have been on lockdown for months, even years, without TV or tablets and no access to educational classes. It’s just 23 hours a day of lockdown without any written criteria for release.
This suit is available on the Internet.
I’ve seen so many prisoners harm themselves because there is no hope here. The black guards are biased and racist, just like the white ones..
The mailroom, with all black females and one black male, refuses to let us receive urban novels or anything with black culture or history. They lock us up in these cells with no objective criteria for release; we are released when they decide to release us.
They double-bunk us in restrictive solitary cells with a cellmate. They throw away all of our approved personal property every time we are placed on lockdown. They let us “buy” it again when we get off lockdown. It’s like extortion.
I’m writing so someone will know about the conditions we suffer every day.
Please help us;
