Plan to help Southside businesses get small loans opposed by Ellis Administration

A plan to help small businesses in South Monroe get loans to create or expand businesses is being opposed by the Ellis Administration and could be the subject of discussion at next week’s meeting of the Monroe City Council.

     A plan to help get financing for South Side businesses is one of 47 projects included in the district’s proposed 25-year plan. The plan to help Southside is scheduled to be on next week’s City Council Agenda.

     The idea is for the SEDD to forge agreements with local banks to help certain types of businesses get loans that would benefit the community.
