A memorial service for a Monroe native who died December 6th, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Adeline Tanzy Wilson died earlier this month in Georgia.
Her official obituary reads as follows:
“A beloved wife, mother, teacher, and minister of music, Adeline T. Wilson passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2019, at Piedmont Henry Hospital Hospice Care in Stockbridge, Ga. She was born November 15, 1940, in Richland, Louisiana to Allen Tanzy and Mary Harris Tanzy. She married Lorenzo Wilson also a native of Monroe, La. now deceased December 28, 1990, in Los Angeles, Ca. She served the community as an employee of the Monroe City School system, Minister of Music for several local churches and an original member of the renowned local gospel group, the Revelations. Adeline truly lived life to the fullest by teaching music and counseling women on how to live a virtuous life. She is survived by her sibling Min. Robert Tanzy and brother in law Hardy Staten. Her children Christina L. Tanzy, Demeale A. Tanzy, Anton D. Davis, Frank Givens Jr. and Avis Givens Jackson. Her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss their “Nanny” dearly. Adeline finished her assignment in Ellenwood, GA surrounded by her children & grandchildren.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Adeline touched are invited to the memorial service scheduled Saturday, December 21, 2019, at New Tabernacle Baptist Church, 810 Bread Street, in Monroe, La. 71201 at 1 pm.
