Library has 64 volumes of African-American funeral programs

Do you remember Dr. Madison W. Foster? He was a prominent physician in our community, and his actual funeral program is included in a unique collection of African-American Funeral programs at the Ouachita Parish Library.

  For almost twenty years, the Genealogy Department of the Ouachita Parish Public Library has been collecting local African-American funeral programs.

  The project began in 2003 when Genealogy Library Associate Mary Roberson saw a need for more genealogy resources for those looking for their African American roots.
