Graveside service set 36 year-old COVID victim

Graveside services are set for a 36 old man who is another COVID 19 victim in our area.

Services for Dexter Cooper, 36, will be held Friday, January 15, 2020, at 2 p.m.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 14 at McFarland Funeral Home.

Cooper’s official obituary reads as follows:

Dexter Andre Antonio Cooper was born on January 28, 1984, to Dexter Cooper, Sr. and Kathy Looney. He passed away on January 7, 2021.

Dexter accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the True Vine Baptist Church under Reverend Greg Oliver’s leadership.

He attended school at Lisbon Elementary and Waterproof High Schools. He graduated from Davison High School, where he had a very special teacher, Ms. Susie Joyce of Waterproof, Louisiana. Dexter was a full-time employee at Arco for many years.

Dexter was preceded in death by his father, Dexter Cooper, Sr., and a brother, Jacoby Looney.

Dexter leaves to cherish his memories: his biological mother, Kathy Looney; six siblings, Denerious Looney, Walter Looney, Ashley Looney, and Carlissia Looney, all of Monroe, Louisiana; Reba Hamilton of Tallulah, Louisiana; and Keisha Hamilton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his fiancée, Alaska Mays; his unborn daughter, Ayla Destani Cooper; his mother- and father-in-law, Lena, and Mack Williams; his extended family in love, his mother, Margery Washington of Waterproof, Louisiana; siblings, Lou of Lake Isabella, California; and Mike of Houma, Louisiana; a special sister, Kia Littleberry; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family in New Orleans, Louisiana and Waterproof, Louisiana.
