Scripture: When Jesus came into the Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven (Matthew 16: 13-19).
My Dear, Dear Friends,
I wish I could say this account ended there, but sadly, it did not. My driver continued her account to me by saying evidently the two children s parents arrived after our departure with the intention of returning them home. It seemed that the dad the next morning arose with the intention of preparing his car for their return trip. As children often do, at least one, the little boy, asked to go with him to do so while others remained in the kitchen area eating breakfast and fellowshipping. Suddenly! Flames came down from the ceiling area causing fear and some pain to some of the remaining family members who were sitting at the counter. However, everyone survived the strange occurrence and eventually the visiting family arrived home. Of course, the fire department were summoned to investigate the strange incident but could not find anything the cause of the flame.
A few days after that strange occurrence, God instructed me to go to my first cousin s home, Joyce Hobson Bassett, and pray for her knee. She had injured it on a filing cabinet drawer and was suffering greatly as a result. She also served as the Elementary School Mathematics Supervisor in the Monroe City School System. She seemed quite surprised but excited when I phoned her and related God s assignment to come to her home and pray for her to be relieved of her knee pain. I placed Gods right hand entrusted to me upon her knee and prayed the prayed He had instructed me to pray. Later on, after I returned home, she called me and said that she had mowed her lawn, a very unusual task for her.
