“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:25-30).
What is the load that you carry day after day, month after month, and year after year? Are you bound up with depression, despair, sickness and worry because of it? Although you may share your problems with loved ones, friends, and even professional counselors, you do not find the release that you would like to find because you are still shouldering the burden alone. This is truly unnecessary. We have someone who invites us to “come” and “cast”.
In essence, we share with persons who can do absolutely nothing about our heavy ladens. By habit, we take our burdens to individuals to seek help, but bring them back home with us once we have regurgitated all that we could. Although our friends and loved ones want to help, their help is limited. However, we have someone who wants us to come to Him and allow Him to carry it all. In fact, He understands that we will endure excessive heavy burdens, but He petitions us to “Come” to Him and “Cast” them on Him. We have a Savior who is willing and ready to carry our load. Yes, my friends, he can handle it.
The noted scripture is a familiar passage, and we must reach, grab and apply it when we are burdened either from ourselves or others. It is so easy to consult with others and unload our problems while knowing that they cannot handle it either. Consequently, Jesus stands with outstretched arms ready to take the load and carry it for us. He never promised that we would have a life of ease, but He did let us know that we have someone to help us shoulder it all. His promise of love and peace is what we need to endure and persevere-believing that everything will be all right.
My friends, it is not a struggle to write messages or even speak the messages God gives to individuals; however, it may be hard at times to relinquish the ability to try to handle things on our own, yet we must remember that God knows what we need to strengthen our faith and our walk with Him. He tells us to “Come”-an open invitation to bring it to Him-One who wants to bear our burdens. Thank You, Lord for the invitation to “Come” and “Cast”
