Black History: Unsung heroes of Civil Rights movement. Do you know them?

When the U.S. Supreme Court declared segregation illegal and the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Black leaders in Monroe organized to bring down racial barriers in government, public accommodations, and schools.

What many don’t know are the anonymous names of children and adults who bravely put their names on lawsuits, despite threats to their lives, health and safety. Neither do they know or at least remember the attorneys who fought many of the battles, often without pay, to pave the way.
