West Monroe, La – Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) is partnering with General Motors (GM) to offer GM’s Service Technician Education Program (STEP) to students enrolled in the college’s Automotive Technology program at LDCC West Monroe.
The partnership will provide LDCC students with an early introduction to careers available within GM dealerships. Through STEP, students will have access to GM’s web-based training modules and product-specific instructional materials while completing their automotive education at LDCC.
The program can also serve as a bridge to the GM Automotive Career Education Program (ACEP), which combines advanced technical education with on-the-job training. Participating dealerships may support eligible students through part-time employment opportunities, allowing them to gain valuable workplace experience while continuing their education.
“General Motors is excited to announce its Service Technician Education Program partnership with Louisiana Delta Community College in West Monroe, Louisiana,” said General Motors District Manager of Parts and Service Elliott Martin. “As demand for automotive service technicians continues to grow, GM dealerships are seeking additional qualified technicians. Through STEP, LDCC automotive students gain access to GM’s web-based training modules, helping attract new talent while providing exposure to General Motors product training and creating pathways to potential employment opportunities at GM dealerships. We look forward to building a strong partnership between LDCC and General Motors,”
LDCC Automotive Technology Instructor Darrinton Robinson will lead implementation of the STEP curriculum within the college’s automotive program. LDCC already has more than 40 students enrolled in Automotive Technology courses for this coming semester. Students interested in Automotive Technology and the opportunity to participate in the GM STEP program are encouraged to apply and register as soon as possible.
Through partnerships such as STEP, Louisiana Delta Community College continues to work closely with employers to ensure students receive the technical skills and professional experience needed to enter the workforce and succeed in the automotive service industry. Visit ladelta.edu to register.
