As students return to the classroom, I want to challenge every young person to make this the year you do what others thought was impossible.
Many may carry last year’s grade and disappointments and mistakes into a new school year. Maybe you struggled in math, had poor attendance, or failed a class. But remember this: Last year’s report card does not have to write this year’s story.
There is a popular saying about the bee. It says that, according to science, the bee should not be able to fly because its wings are too small and fragile to carry its body. Yet every day the bee gets up and flies anyway.
Whether or not that statement is scientifically accurate, the lesson is one to remember. The bee refuses to be limited by what appears impossible.
That’s exactly how I want you to approach this school year.
You may have been labeled as an average student. Maybe there are even people waiting to say, “I knew they couldn’t do it.”
Surprise them.
Study harder than you ever have. Ask questions. Read one more chapter. Complete every assignment. Show up on time. Build good habits every single day. Success rarely comes from one big moment. It comes from hundreds of small decisions.
The greatest victory is not proving your critics wrong. It’s proving to yourself that you are capable of far more than you imagined.
Imagine the look on everyone’s face when the students who barely passed last year make the honor roll. Imagine walking across the graduation stage after others counted you out. Imagine making your parents, your teachers, your principal – and most importantly, yourself – proud.
This school year, don’t settle for being who you were. Become who you were created to be.
Do the unexpected. Do what others think you cannot do. Do what you once believed was impossible.
This is your opportunity to write a brand – new chapter.
Go shock the doubters.
Go make yourself proud.
Go do the impossible.
