Are you too busy to respond to Christ’s invitation?

Greetings, Dear Hearts,

It is a joy to greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My prayer is that God has blessed you and will continue to bless and keep you and your families. May His peace and grace be with you always.

Interestingly, as I read portions of Debby Sibert’s book, Where Will You Spend Eternity? Not Sure? There’s Still Time, a thought-provoking question came to mind. That is, “Are you too busy to respond to Christ’s invitation?”

In the introduction of her book, Sibert shares a story from Randy Alcorn’s blog about a young woman who was invited to sing at an extravagant wedding banquet hosted by a wealthy man. When she and her husband arrived, she gave the receptionist her name, but it could not be found on the guest list.  Although she explained that she had been invited to sing, the receptionist replied, “It doesn’t matter who you are or what you were supposed to do. Without your name in the book, you cannot attend the banquet.” Sadly, she and her husband were escorted out.

As they drove away, her husband asked how such a thing could have happened. Through tears, she admitted that she never RSVP’d In fact, she assumed it was not necessary because she had been invited to sing. Because she failed to respond to the invitation, she missed one of the greatest banquets she had ever been invited to attend.

Particularly, this story reminds us of an even greater invitation extended by Jesus Christ.  He has invited each of us to the greatest banquet of all, the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. “Will your name be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life?”  (Revelation 20:15; 21:27).

Many people become so busy with church activities that they neglect the most important relationship of all. We may attend church faithfully while serving and participating in many church activities. However, these activities or works cannot save us. Therefore, if our names are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, our works alone will not grant us entrance into God’s eternal kingdom.

My friends, over 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ extended the greatest invitation ever given. If you have never accepted Him as your Savior, or if you are uncertain about your relationship with Him, you still have time, in this moment.  The Bible declares, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9 NKJV).

Salvation is God’s free gift, and the moment you place your faith in Jesus Christ and His death, burial, and resurrection, He forgives your sins and grants you eternal life. Do not become so busy with the cares of this life that you fail to RSVP to Christ’s invitation. His invitation is still open.

Jesus Saves!
