School board issues easy-to-read finance report

As part of its statutory duties under Louisiana law, the School Board is responsible for adopting, overseeing, and ensuring the proper administration of the district budget.
Board’s recent report supports that responsibility by making financial information accessible to the community.

Why This Report Was Released

“The public should not have to interpret technical financial documents to understand how their tax dollars are being used,” Cooper said. “Transparency is part of our legal and ethical responsibility as a Board.

Financial Highlights

General Fund: Stable and on track.

1968 Sales Tax Fund: Positive balance of $2.12M.

School Food Services: Temporary deficit due to federal reimbursement timing.

Title I: $3.77M spent (29%); on track.

Title II: $366K spent (32%); normal pacing.

Title IV: $166K spent (13%); typical spring drawdown.

EEF (Education Excellence): $78K spent (22%); healthy.

21st Century Programs: $725K spent (55%); strong activity.

Overall Status

Revenues and expenditures across all major funds are within expected ranges. No fund shows overspending, and temporary deficits reflect reimbursement cycles rather than financial instability.
