When you are accused of something you are not guilty of…

By Lisa Wilmore

Dear Hearts,
My praise this morning as God and His Spirit gives words and thoughts for this message is, “Blessed is the Name of the Lord. He is our Strength and Truth-our Savior who is Everlasting, Eternal and Endless.”

Our topic for this message deals with being accused of something that you are not guilty of. If this is your story and you have experienced accusations, then, you know first-hand what it feels like to be accused but not guilty. Of course, there are worse things that could happen to us; nonetheless, it does not take away the hurt or disappointment that you feel at the time.

As we recall the account of Joseph in the Bible, we must remember his innocence when Potiphar’s wife tried and failed to seduce him. Her tactics were intentional, deliberate and planned. The Bible emphasized that “Joseph was a goodly person and well favored” (Gen. 39:40). Sometimes people see your kindness and the favor of God on your life and begin to plot to hurt or accuse you. Joseph’s story continued with the fact that Potiphar’s wife wrongfully accused him of something he was not guilty of (Gen. 39). Consequently, God had a plan for Joseph’s life and used this wrongful act to bring about His plan. So, instead of becoming distraught or distressed when you are accused of something you are not guilty of, maybe God has a plan for your life, and all of this is working for your good.

Furthermore, if Potiphar’s wife had not accused Joseph, he would not have been positioned to help save His father, Jacob, and the children of Israel from a famine that was so devastating during his time in Egypt. You may not be able to understand it at the time, but it works for your good according to His purpose (see Romans 8:28).

During Jesus’ tenure on earth, He was always accused but He was not guilty. He knew His purpose and endured accusations for us. Everything Jesus did was to help us but His spiritual opponents accused and lied on Him because they were threatened by Him and even His presence.

So, if you are a child of God, you will be accused of things that you are not guilty of. My encouragement for you is to continue to walk in His way, do not stop trusting God, and continue to “let your light shine”. Know that “When you are accused of something you are not guilty of, it may be a part of God’s divine plan for your life.

Always be kind and loving toward others. Most importantly, share Jesus with someone today.
Jesus Saves!
