A new principal has been named for Ouachita Parish Junior High School; his name is Darron Underwood.
Underwood is a 16-year veteran in public education who holds two degrees from the University of Louisiana: an M.A. in teaching in 2009 and an MA in Education Leadership in 2011.
Underwood started his educational career in 2008 as a math teacher at schools in Richland Parish, Ouachita Parish, and Louisiana Delta Community College. He excelled at mentoring new math and science teachers while working with the TeachDelta Program at ULM for four years.
