Greetings to All!
I am humbled to share thoughts with you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thank God for our Everlasting, Eternal and Endless Savior!
The Rev. Dr. Jacqulyn Simmons wrote a series of articles several years ago titled; “God always has a plan.” In that series, she penned God’s plan for our salvation and how His plan was established before the beginning of time. In fact, His plan is still in operation today, and it will be in operation until the end of time.
God’s perfect plan for us is designed to give us life, eternally. Sadly, some people do not accept this plan but yield to following a plan that was designed by man, only to discover that the plan they are using is the wrong plan.
Well, my friends, I would like to highlight this message with the question, “Are we using the wrong plan for our children?” Every year it appears that the same actions and events happen to ensure that our children are actively engaged in activities that will never yield a close relationship with God. With basketball, football, little league sports, dance classes, social activities, etc., little or no time is left for God. When do children have time to sit and study God’s Word; learn what He really expects of them? Unfortunately, environments have been formed for them which will never enhance spiritual growth in their lives-social growth perhaps, but not spiritual growth.
The title of this message is a bold statement to all of us who have tried to rear our children on the world’s plan while neglecting the plan that God has set before them. That plan is to share Jesus with them with ultimate results of their acceptance of Him. “No thing” should come before God. Nothing the world offers should replace Bible class/Sunday School, worship service, etc.
Recently, I had a desire to see a Christian movie that was being shown in the local theater. This movie revealed the importance of accepting Jesus as your personal Savior at a young age. To my amazement, one of the local school’s football team was in attendance. The teenagers were very well mannered. As they walked out of the theater, they were chatting among themselves. I heard one of them say, “That was a good movie.” “ Thank you, God, for the leader and school sponsors for caring about their spiritual needs.”
The plan that God intended for us to use is His plan. That is, share Jesus Christ with our children and pray for their acceptance of Him. This is the right plan.
