The path you choose will determine your eternity

By Lisa Wilmore

My Dear Friends,

I greet you in the only Name that matters, that is, Jesus, our eternal, endless and everlasting Savior. It is by His grace that we can bask in another day. Thank You, Jesus!

As a point of reference, for the past two years our youngest daughter took a different path from the original path that she sought when she graduated high school. She was excited to attend LA Tech and complete a bachelor’s degree in political science. When she was three years of age, she was asked what she wanted to become when she grew up. She immediately responded, “a lawyer.” So, from this age to college graduation, becoming a lawyer was her concentration. Well, she took another path. She took what is call “a gap year” and began to teach. The first year of teaching went well and she thought that teaching may be her calling. Being financially independent was a positive attribute, also. Then, she took another gap year. Of course, it appeared that she was on the path of becoming an educator who worked with children.

Unquestionably, I was a proud mom because I thought she was following in my path of becoming an educator. Interestingly, this desire did not last long. She is now back on her original path to become a lawyer. The desire to become a lawyer to help “underserved” children overwhelmed her until she began to apply to universities of interest and was immediately accepted in Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Either paths would be great because they both have promising results.
However, we do not get that luxury when it comes to the path of eternal life or eternal destruction. The path of Jesus Christ is promising but the path of destruction is eternally dooming. What path have you chosen? Have you chosen eternal life, offered through belief in Jesus Christ or have you chosen eternal destruction, offered through the evil one? We have a choice to choose which direction we can course.

“The path we choose determine our eternity.”

We should be grateful that God has given us a choice to become a teacher, lawyer or whatever we desire. Either one of these choices would be great in serving communities as God gives us the ability to do so. However, there is only ONE choice or path that we must take for eternal living. That is to accept Jesus as our personal Savior.

The Word of God declares “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son and whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV). The greatest path that one can follow is the one that God has set for us through Jesus Christ. Jesus, who paid the penalty for our sins, then offered us new life, eternal life, if we only believe in Him.
Jesus saves!
