My Dear Friends,
Blessings to you! My prayer for you is that God continues to keep and give you peace during the seasons of your lives. I humbly submit to our Everlasting, Eternal, and Endless Savior, Jesus Christ.
“The Message has not changed; therefore, let us not change the message.”
When our children were young and desired to go to certain parties or gatherings, we carefully considered the place and time and sometimes said “no, you may not attend”. Of course, our girls would come a second time and ask the same question, but our decision had not changed. Interestingly, they would cry and give reasons why they should attend and who would be in attendance; however, our message to them did not change. The answer was still “no”.
With this in mind, the message of Jesus Christ has not changed. Over two thousand years ago, Jesus, our sacrificial substitute, died and rose on that third day in order that you and I may have eternal life. As a matter of fact, in the beginning, in the book of Genesis, God established that the woman’s seed (Jesus) would crush the evil one’s head (satan). Scripture reminds us, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel” (Gen. 3:15 NIV). So, the message of Jesus Christ has not changed. He has conquered and overpowered the darkness of this world.
As a point of reference, when Peter preached his first sermon, after the coming of the Holy Spirit, three thousand souls were saved (Acts 2). Peter’s message was Jesus Christ, the one they crucified. “Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death…” (Acts 2:23-24 KJV). Interestingly, Peter preached a second message in the book of Acts, chapter 3; yet his message did not change. Again, the message of Jesus Christ resulted in five thousand men who believed (Acts 3: 12-26).
The message of Jesus Christ has not changed, so we must not be guilty of changing the message. Jesus is still in the saving business. There are many who have made it a commitment to distort the gospel of Jesus Christ, or share what they think people want to hear. The only way individuals’ lives will be transformed, God’s true message must go forth. What message are you consistently sharing with people who need hope? Is your message about Jesus, our resurrected Savior? Or does your message appease itching ears?
People are in search of the truth. The message of truth is Jesus-our risen and reigning redeemer. Nothing else will bring the change that people desperately need. “The message has not changed; therefore, let us not change the message.”
Jesus Saves!
