The crowd needs to hear your testimony

By Lisa Wilmore

Scripture Reading: Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace” (Luke 8:47 NKJV).

Greetings All!

Do you recall when churches would courageously engage in “Sunday morning” testimony services? Sometimes during Wednesday night or midweek Bible class, the Pastor would ask if anyone had a testimony that they would like to share with the congregation. Almost everyone would share something about the goodness of God and what he had done for them.

As I remember, being a part of these services and in the presence of my grandmother, she and others testified about God’s provisions, and how He had sustained them during winter days that brought forth struggles. In addition, they always gave God exciting accolades for Jesus Christ and Him saving them from their sins.

Unfortunately, there are not enough testimony services that allow the breathtaking testimonial expressions needed to help others understand His eternal goodness. It appears that we have forgotten the need to share His goodness with others and publicly express with affirmation of others, of what the mighty God we serve.

In the aforementioned Text, which is a familiar Test, the Woman with the issue of blood has pressed her way through the crowd to “touch” the Hem of Jesus’ garment. In her pressing and touching, Jesus knew that something happened from a specific touch. He asked the question, “Who touched Me” (Luke 8:43-45). It was something special and “faith-filled” with her touch. As a result, Jesus recognized her touch.

The point of this message is to highlight the fact that even in her trembling to testify of the truth about her touch, others were present and heard what Jesus had done for her through her touch. “She declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she touched Him and how she was healed immediately” (Luke 8:47c). Her instant healing yielded an instant testimony in the presence of the people. Of course, she had a choice to leave, accept her healing and stay quiet. Instead, she testified that it was she who touched and that healing had taken place.

My friends, many have received miraculous healings as well as other blessings from God. Yet have not shared or testified to His goodness. We must begin to tell our story of what He has done for us so others can glean hope from the goodness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. “The crowd needs to hear your testimony”!
