The company you keep

By Rusty Potter

It’s been said, “If you hang around five smart people, you’ll be the sixth.” This reminds us of the influence our environment has on our lives. Surrounding ourselves with inspiration is a way to achieve personal growth and success.

Proverbs 13:20 says,” He that walketh with wise men shall be wise.” If you want to master a skill, or reach a new level in life, align yourself, with those who have already succeeded. Great people inspire greatness in others. Their words, actions, and mindsets plant the seeds of success in the hearts of those willing to learn. Bill Gates once said, “ The fastest way to change yourself is to hang out with people who are already the way you want to be.” Positive, uplifting people challenge us to become better versions of ourselves. they encourage us to dream bigger, work harder, and reach higher.
Make an effort to build a circle of influence that adds value to your life. Surround yourself with people who encourage your goals, and challenge your thinking. Seek out friends who bring out the best in you and push you toward your dreams.

Speak words of encouragement that make people valued. Help others see their potential and remind them of their worth. When you make someone feel like “somebody”, you create a true friend.
Remember, the company you keep determines the person you become. Choose wisely, lift others, and watch as your life changes. As the saying goes, “A rising tide lifts all the boats.” Be the tide that raises everyone in your circle.
