Dear Editor,
This era of time brings out of us the Good and the Bad doesn’t it?
I want to focus on language or should I say the “tone” of the language when we are engaged in conversation with one another and its affect on those whom we converse with. When someone sings they either sing in a “tone” of soprano, bass, tenor etc. So if the song is sung in one of these various tones there is harmony. Right? So what I’m getting at with this article it is about the Tone of voice we use wit our parents, especially with our Mothers.
Let’s clear the word (Tone) the quality pitch or character of sound, voice or color, often conveying specific feelings, attitudes or meanings. Read the Book of James 3:5,6. The real reason I am writing on this particular subject is the fact of the matter I don’t like what I’m hearing coming out of our mouths about our Mothers. Mothers’ that went through hours of labor pain to get us here.
Honor: Signifies high moral standards, integrity and adherence to duty as well as holding someone in high respect or esteem. I won’t go into the detail about the disrespect that I hear coming from our lips to our Mothers’ fore I need not mention what is said, because we know what we say when it comes out of our mouths, in a very nasty way. It’s hurtful and by nature we know it is wrong to say in the first place. I pray that the reader of this article gets wisdom from it , because we have to begin to “A Tone” for our behavior.
As I bring this to a close with a Bible verse from the Book of Exodus. Chapter 20 verse 12 states, “Honor thy Father and thy Mother that thy days may be long upon the Land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”
I must share with you (the reader) my experience the time when I disrespected my Mother. The day I said to her what I said I got beat up at the Arkla-Miss-Fair. As the youngsters say “STAMP.” (Smile)
