Picture yourself at the start of a race. Each lane is distinct, just as each runner is unique. You aren’t glancing at the other runners but focused on your race.
Life is a lot like this race. It’s easy to look around and compare ourselves to others, wondering if we’re ahead, behind, or keeping up. But just like in running, if you keep looking to the side, you lose focus and risk falling. Real progress comes when you stay centered in your lane, keeping your eyes forward and mind on your lane.
There’s no competition in your lane, no traffic to slow you down. The lane is yours, carved out by your unique talents, goals, and dreams. Focus on what you are good at, and work on developing your strengths.
So, run your own race, keep your eyes on your lane. Remember, there’s no traffic in your lane. And in the end, the only person you’re racing against is the person you were yesterday.
