Farmerville, La. — A $3,000 grant from leading internet and mobile provider Sparklight® will help survivors of domestic violence and their children take important steps toward independence and stability. Awarded to the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team (D.A.R.T.) through the Sparklight Charitable Giving Fund, the funding will provide laptops that families can use for school, job searches, employment and other critical needs as they rebuild their lives.
During its recent grant cycle, Sparklight awarded more than $125,000 in grants to 28 nonprofit organizations across the cities and towns it serves. By investing in programs that support children and families, address food insecurity, expand educational opportunities and build critical life skills, the funding is helping improve lives and strengthen local communities.
“Connection is about more than technology — it’s about helping people access opportunities, resources and support when they need it most,” said Charlie Oakes, Sparklight Senior Regional Director, Gulf Coast. “We’re proud to support D.A.R.T. and help survivors and their children stay connected as they work toward a safer and brighter future.”
D.A.R.T. leadership said the grant will help remove barriers that often inhibit survivors’ success.
“We are incredibly grateful to Sparklight for this generous support,” said Tiffany White, D.A.R.T. Executive Director. “Access to technology can make a life-changing difference for survivors and their children as they work to rebuild after domestic violence.”
Jackie Hill, D.A.R.T. Rural Advocate for Union Parish, added that the laptops will help families pursue employment, continue their education, stay connected to critical resources and take important steps toward long-term independence.
Sparklight’s Charitable Giving Fund focuses on initiatives that create lasting, local impact, including education and digital literacy, hunger relief and community development. Since the Fund’s inception in 2020, Sparklight has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants to more than 300 nonprofits that make a difference in the lives of those they serve.
Nonprofit organizations may apply for a grant during open application periods each spring and fall. Applications for the fall 2026 cycle will be accepted Oct. 1-31, 2026.
