Sillers funeral service set for Sunday

Services for Tonya Rena Bess Sillers, 50, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Greater New Antioch Baptist Church, 301 Sherrouse Avenue.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, July 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McFarland Funeral Home on Winnsboro Road.

Burial will follow on Monday, July 21, at Monroe City Cemetery, under the direction of McFarland Funeral Home.

Sillers passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 50.

Born August 6, 1974, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Letis Lloyd Bess and Sylvia Hall Bess. Raised in the Bryant’s Addition community, she attended Wossman High School before furthering her education at Shreveport Job Corps, where she earned her CNA license.

Tonya devoted her career to caring for others, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Monroe Manor Nursing Home, Riverside Nursing Home, and St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. She continued her service in healthcare until her health began to fail.

Along her journey, she met and married Ricky Sillers.

She was preceded in death by her father, Letis Lloyd Bess.

Cherishing her memory are her mother, Sylvia Bess; sister, Sharon Hall Carter (Albert) of Stockton, CA; brothers, Brandon Hall of Watauga, TX, Vernon Hall (Jacqueline) of San Francisco, CA, Marcus Bess (Kayci), and Jeremy Bess (Lansey); aunts, Lueretter James (Johnnie) of Monroe, Mary Dixon of Monroe, Melba Hall of Monroe, Nelda Castor (Michael) of Monroe, Juanita Guillory of Killen, TX, Donna Sue Pugh of Monroe, and Katherine Hall of Monroe; uncles, Booker T. Hall, Jr., Casey Hall, and Jason Clay, all of Monroe.

She also leaves behind three nieces, five nephews, a great-nephew, special lifetime friends Michelle Wilson and Marie Harvey, her godson Tommy Wilson, godmother Lee Ann Cooper, and a host of cousins and friends.

Her goddaughter, Jasmine Wilson, preceded her in death.
