Roderick’s Roundup: Yoyo Master speaks at Minnie Ruffin

Hello, guys; this is Roderick. This week, I will touch on the NED project, a student profile, a ten-year-old birthday party, and a former Minnie Ruffin teacher who is now at ULM. Let’s get to it.

NED Speaker At Minnie Ruffin

Paul Zelhart, a show performer for NED, came to Minnie Ruffin and showed us some fun tricks with the yoyo, and he also told us never to give up. He is a speaker who pushes students to do their best, never give up, and encourage others. He told us never to rush through the test because, on the leap test, you will not be able to re-submit it.

A Student Profile

Blade Roquemore, born on June 18, 2014, is a fourth grader at Roy Neal Shelling Sr. Elementary School. He is being reared by his mother, Justice Welch, and his father, Christopher Roquemore. Blade is an active Faith Harvest Baptist Church member, where Rev. James Jackson serves as the pastor. His hobbies are football and basketball. Blade will be graduating with the class of 2032 from Carroll High School. Congratulations to Blade Roquemore, who has a bright future.

Davyon Hamilton celebrated his 10th birthday with a Hampton hotel sleepover.

Ten-Year-Old Birthday Party

Davyon Hamilton celebrated his tenth birthday with a sleepover at the Hampton Inn, and we had lots of fun. We even got in the pool. We had pizza and cookie cake and went to the gym to work out. We also played hide-and-seek in the dark. Happy birthday Davyon.

Hats Off To Mr. Robert Wright

Mr. Robert Wright was a former Minnie Ruffin teacher from 2018-2020. He taught social studies at our school and will start teaching at ULM in March of 2024. He will begin to teach American history. Mr. Wright said on his first day teaching at ULM; he would dress up in a costume like he did when he taught at our school. Congratulations on his promotion.

 That’s It!
