6th Grade, Minnie Ruffin Elementary School
Hello, guys; this is Roderick. This week, I will touch on the Wossman and Carroll basketball game, student profile, Peer Pressure, and D.A.R.E.
The Wossman and Carroll Basketball Game

Wossman and Carroll had their championship on Friday, February 9th. They were tied when the fourth quarter ended, so they had to play five quarters. The score was 68-71, Wossman had 71 and Carroll had 68. People had a lot of fun cheering for their team.

Kids like Cpl. Jones
Cpl. Pamela Jones teaches dare at different schools. She is a friendly, Dare teacher. Every Tuesday, Cpl. Jones comes to Minnie Ruffin and teaches us about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Cpl. Pam Jones was awarded D.A.R.E. Officer of the Year for the Louisiana DARE Conference Association in Baton Rouge on July 22, 2021.
D.A.R.E. is an acronym for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, a widely recognized drug prevention program. It aims to educate young people about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage them to make healthy choices.
Peer Pressure
Many kids go through peer pressure because others try to make them do something that they should not do. Damian Coleman, a mentor with The Black-Tie Guys Program, says, ‘Peer pressure is one of the greatest influences today among our youth. It makes them say things they should not say and do things they should not do. Make them feel ways they should not feel and often do things that can get them in trouble. ” All of us children should work to be a better influence on others and avoid pressuring them to do something that they should not do.
That’s It!
Well, that wraps it up for this week. Next week, I will report about Black Colleges and a lot more. If you want to contact me, email me at theblacktieguys318@gmail.com. I’ll see you next week.
