Richwood salutes Ma’Shell Wright as 2025 Student of the year

Richwood High School has announced Ma’Shell Wright as its 2025 Student of the Year, an honor that recognizes not only academic achievement but character, leadership, and service within the school community.

Wright was praised by Principal Alvin Fields for her consistent positivity and determination.

“We are very proud of our student of the year, Ma’Shell Wright,” Fields said.

“She maintains a positive attitude and always strives to do her best. We know that she will make her family and Richwood High School proud.”

The title of Student of the Year is one of the highest distinctions a student can receive in the Ouachita Parish School System.

The honor goes beyond grades—it represents a student who models excellence, earns the respect of peers and teachers, and reflects the values of their school both inside and outside the classroom. Recipients are often involved in extracurricular activities and community service and display strong leadership qualities.

For Wright, the award is both a celebration of her hard work and a reflection of her influence among her classmates. The selection places her among the top students in the parish, making her eligible to advance to regional and possibly state levels of competition.

Richwood staff say Wright has been an example of what dedication and a strong mindset can accomplish. Her recognition highlights not only her personal success but also the culture of encouragement and achievement Richwood High strives to build.

The Student of the Year program is sponsored statewide to honor outstanding students who embody academic excellence, leadership ability, citizenship, and service. For many honorees, it becomes a milestone that strengthens college applications, scholarship opportunities, and future career paths.

As for Ma’Shell Wright, her journey is just beginning—yet she has already made her school proud.
