Push, pull, or drag

By Rusty Potter

I can remember the old car ads that said they would take your trade-in if you could “ push, pull, or drag your car into the car lot. They were determined to sell a car. They were creating their own opportunities. The people who are the most successful in life are the ones who create their own opportunities in life. Not all good opportunities will just come your way, some you have to make happen. Success may not just come around the corner. You must open your own door of opportunity. When I trained for the New Orleans Marathon, I was waking up at 4 am to run 10 miles. It was all about hard work, sweat, and tears. I was hungry, determined, and willing to create my own opportunities.

Shirley Chisholm said, “ If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring in a folding chair.” You can not climb the ladder of success with one hand in your pocket. Vince Lombardi said, “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.” Remember, success is a choice that you must make happen. Push, pull, or drag the choice is up to you to make it happen. Whatever you do, you must keep moving forward in 2020.
