For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:11-12 NIV).
My Friends,
No one could bear the weight and burden of our wrongdoings or sins but God, Himself. The heavy weight of sin would have destroyed every individual in this entire Universe. No one would have been a survivor because of the heaviness that our sin possessed.
If you have ever been engaged in weight training, you will know that there are certain weights that are impossible for individuals to use for training. In most cases, the trainer will start the training sessions with light weights and increase to heavier weights overtime-until the individuals have met their capacity. There are some weights that are out of the individuals’ league, and they will never be able to lift them or carry them comfortably.
In like manner, the weight of our transgressions (wrongdoings, disobediences) and our ability to carry it was out of our league. So, God sent Jesus, His Son, to carry the load and the weight of sin for us. If He had not, we would have died. The heaviness of it all would have killed us. He not only took the weight of our transgressions from us, but He separated us from it. The psalmist David, sang, “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:11-12 NIV).
Again, as David expressed in Psalm 103 “all His benefits”, we must not forget them. God has been good to us. Interestingly, the psalmist, does not record, “As far as the north from the south.” It is geographically depicted that when you start moving from the east to the west, east will never meet west. When you travel going west, you will forever travel west. In like manner, when you travel going east, you will forever travel east. In simpler terms, east will never meet west. However, when traveling north, you will eventually reach a point where you will start going south. The psalmist says, “As far as the east from the west”…This is how far God has removed and separated us from our transgressions.
“What a mighty God we serve!” Forgiven and forgotten.
“Praise God for separating us from our sins.”
