Our Community “The Real Tea”

By Marie Brown

The Monroe City Council recently honored me by appointing me as the new Council Coordinator/ Research Aide for the City of Monroe. This is not a new position; however, I am bringing new energy. I love this community and I’m sure many of you share the same sentiments.

Over the years I have received many calls from constituents concerning the good, bad, and ugly issues in our community. As an activist, we have been successful in addressing some but not so much for others. As I work with all 5 council members in the City of Monroe, you can be assured that our objective is to strengthen the relationship between the council and community as well as enhance communication concerning issues we face daily.

The quality of life in our community depends on a variety of areas and addressing crime is at the top of the list. The City Council is eager to work with the administration to address all areas of crime particularly violent crime. All residents should feel safe in the privacy of their homes as well as in their workplaces, businesses, and children at schools.

Stay tuned for programs such as Neighborhood Watch and efforts to engage our residents to create a positive environment that will not only reduce crime but also open the doors for more economic, housing, and other opportunities. More details are upcoming.

Love where you live and Live where you love!!!
