Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council are encouraging participation in this year’s Great American Cleanup. Activities kick off at 8:00 am Saturday, April 27. The Great American Cleanup is the nation’s largest community service project and encourages residents and businesses to take part in activities aimed at reducing litter and improving the environment through beautification projects. Area residents, churches and organizations are encouraged to take part and join in at one of several rally points throughout the parish. Pre-registration information is available through each affiliate and online at www.ouachitagreen.org. Ouachita Green is the collective name of Keep Monroe, Keep West Monroe, and Keep Ouachita Parish Beautiful as they continue to work together on projects wherever possible.
Rally Point locations:
1. Monroe: Zoo Pavilion
2. West Monroe: Farmers’ Market
3. Ouachita Parish: Public Works Barn
4. Richwood: Town Hall
5. Sterlington: Town Hall
Late registration at each location will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, April 27th. But everyone is encouraged to pre-register to ensure proper supplies are available. Also, some pre-registered teams may receive their supplies before Saturday to increase efficiency in the cleanup effort.
