Last week I went camping with my grandparents. It was cold. During the day it was warm. We did a scavenger hunt and had classes. The classes were short and fun. The bad part was it was cold.
One night there were bears out there. We could hear them. I started to shake fast and I couldn’t stop moving. It started raining hard and the bears left. Someone didn’t close the top of my tent all the way. So, rain drops got in my tent.
The last night there were wolves. We heard them howling. I didn’t get scared about the wolves because we had an adult in our area. It sounded like they were right outside our tent though.
The food was good and hot. In the mornings we had eggs, grits, biscuits, and hot cocoa. I’m not really a breakfast person but I ate it because the food was good and warm and it was cold outside. When noon came around we had hotdogs and soda. I had ketchup and mustard on my hotdog. I don’t like relish. I think dinner was the best time of the day because we had chili and crackers.
Some of the classes were cool and the others were okay. We learned how to tie knots. My favorite one was the square-knot. We learned the outdoor code. The worst thing was the hiking in the morning and at night. I’m not used to walking at 10:30 at night because I have to wake up at 5:50 in the morning for school. The hikes were long and tiring but we made it through.
The camp was fun. When I got home it got better and I went right to sleep. Before we ate we had to march and say T-O-P G-U-N…. TOPGUN. If we didn’t say that we didn’t eat. We had a scavenger hunt and it was hard. The girls won and my group came in second place. I didn’t want to go at first but I am glad I did because it was a good way to start Thanksgiving week.
