A Monroe man was arrested yesterday, June 29, 2017 and charged with domestic abuse battery and child endangerment. Herman Lee, III said that he punched his wife because she spent all of the family’s money.
According to the Monroe Police, an officer met with a woman at the downtown station in reference to a domestic battery at 4101 Lee Ave. The woman stated that at 2:00 AM that morning, she was sleeping and was awaken by her husband (Lee) punching her in the left eye about three times. The woman said that all three of her kids came running into the room during the altercation. She advised that Lee only punched her three times but after he stopped he continued to threaten her with physical harm.
The woman could not explain why she waited so late to report the battery. The officer observed the woman’s left eye to be blood shot and swollen. She stated Lee would be at the residence.
The officer went to the residence and observed Lee sitting on the front porch. The officer made contact with Lee and advised him of his Miranda Rights prior to questioning. According to the officer, Lee stated that at 2:00 PM he and his wife got into a verbal altercation because she spent all of their money. Lee was booked on the above charges.
