McFarland to Mayor Ellis: “You shall reap what you sow”

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” was a stern warning from Councilman Elect Rodney McFarland Tuesday night as he warned that the incoming black council members who have been ignored by Mayor Friday Ellis do not like being ignored.

Rev. McFarland, along with Minister Verbon Muhammad, expressed their displeasure at being ignored by the mayor as they prepare to take office on July 1st.

The two incoming councilmen joined several black community leaders and urged the current council to delay approving tax plans, a hockey contract, new ordinances, and a bid ceiling increase until the new council members are seated. They accused Mayor Ellis of attempting to push through his pet projects with the lame-duck council before the new members are sworn in.
